Merry Christmas!

Everyone still sleeps but not for long I am sure. Tree sparkles with colourful lights and garland and still plenty of gifts for everyone. Surprised the kids didn't get up as soon as they heard me make coffee.

keeping it on the low down

This year we will try to be more lean at Christmas. First thing to go... ipods, cellphones and other electronics. I prefer anyway to get some gifts at least that are useful like socks and underwear. I have never gone wrong with socks and underwear, they always get used!

When asked what I would like for Christmas this year I reply "coffee mugs and lunch containers". They laugh about that but really... after all the mornings I have been digging through the cupboards only to find eight lids and one bottom  you would think it would be obvious what I wanted for Christmas. (Where do all the bottoms go anyway?) And all my mugs are either chipped or have disappeared. Probably after not making it back from a ride on the floor of my husbands car. :)

We are only exchanging homemade gifts (or no gifts) with David's family this year which is a bit of a relief. I still see things I want to buy for them but I have to stop myself. Better on my pocketbook at least. Instead I am thinking of putting a paper package together for each of them. I can always save a lot of cool stuff from the recycling at work. Hopefully they like it.

December Excitement

I felt a snap in the air tonight. Maybe some snow on the mountains tonight?? hmm... A little skiing would sure be nice. Still, my son wore his flip-flops when we went out this afternoon.

But really it's the Christmas season I am excited about. Even if I dislike all the commercialism I still feel warm and nostalgic thinking of christmas' past. For me and for the kids it's an important time to bond with the family. It's always fun.
